So worth the drive and worth freezing your butt off!!!

OMG!! This place was one of the most amazing places that I have been to in a very long time! A good friend of mine had told me about this house that decorated their home beautifully in memory of his wife and daughter...so we decided to drive by on Friday night to see it. I have never seen so many Christmas lights on one house before. Then...yesterday we find out that you can get out of your car and walk around their yard to look at all the decorations and you can also write a message to a loved one who has passed away! So we invited Momma Yo (my mother-n-law) over for dinner and we all went back to this wonderful place. We had told her about it but she must have not been listening to us when we told her yesterday because tonight when we got there she didn't know why we were there. Grandma GG (Momma Yo's mother) passed away 8 months ago so we thought it would be nice to go write a message to Grandma GG as this is our 1st Christmas without her :( When we walked up to the house we were greeted with Hot Apple Cider by the homeowners daughter. She told us about the tradition which was started for her sister that had passed away many years ago, and now it is also in honor of her mother whom had passed away only 2 years ago. Her father begins decorating the house on October 1st! They go to Apple Hill and find the biggest tree they can find and put over 13,000 lights on it. On top of the tree is a big beautiful angel, which they call their Mother's tree. They had a fire pit going and marshmellows to roast...it was absolutely one of the most touching and beautiful places to visit!! It truly touched me and it is so remarkable to me that these people open their home to complete strangers to share their love for their loved ones. It made my Christmas season even better!! I already had such a great week with my favorite student loving me more than Santa and then I was able to go see this awesome place. We had a wonderful family night and we all got to write messages to our loved ones who are now in heaven. They also let us know that the ornaments that we made would be put out every year from here on out! I can't wait to go back next year...I just hope it's not raining next time! Here are some pictures...if you live in Elk Grove or near you should definatly go to this place!! It's off of Point Pleasant, you can email me if you would like specific directions.

I'm MORE important than Santa!!! :)

Good Morning & Happy Friday!!!

This was a good week!! Despite the yucky cold that started on Sunday morning that pretty much ruined my Christmas shopping day, it turned out pretty damn good! Monday and Tuesday of work was the last 2 days of our "Secret Santa" game and I was successful at being sneaky and never got caught...although there were a couple of close calls! And I had a REALLY REALLY hard time having to lie to my friend...she keep showing me and telling me what she got and I had to act like I had no idea...it was REALLY hard!! But it was lots of fun :) I had a really good person too...she gave me lots of goodies, including a Soy Milk Caramel Macciatto!! I LOVE her!!!

So the BEST day of this week was Wednesday. On Wednesday the Elk Grove Rotary Club came to Jessie Baker and someone from the group dresses as Santa and hands out a gift to EVERY student at our school!! THANK YOU ROTARY!! They are SO awesome to do this EVERY year! It's one of the funnest days of my year. So...let me go back a little...the last 2 years I had a little girl in my class named Dalia, this year she moved on to the next class :( I was very sad and she was too. She is one of my ALL TIME FAVS!! I just love her to pieces!! I know, I know...I'm not supposed to have favorites but she stole my heart two years ago and sad to say...I HAVE a favorite and it's her!

Ok...back to Wednesday :) So, I'm sitting in the 2nd row with my class and the baby class (OMG..the baby class is SO damn cute!!) and I hear Dalia's name called but didn't think anything of it because I was busy talking to my friend in front of me. All of a sudden the teacher knelling down next to me gets pushed over and I get tackeled by Dalia! She was yelling Mrs.Nikki!!! And tackled me with a HUGE hug!! She didn't even care that Santa was there and ran to ME instead! Just warmed my heart and made my whole week, maybe even year!

Then...yesterday (Thursday) I had just finished writing Dalia's mother a note asking if I could take Dalia to the movies during our Christmas break and in comes Dalia's mom and dad. At first I was thinking they came into my class by mistake and forgot that Dalia was in a new class. NO...they were their to give me a Christmas gift and to say "Merry Christmas and thank you for being special to Dalia" My heart skipped again! They gave all 3 staff in my class a gift because we were so special to Dalia. Can you believe that!?!?! Dalia's mom said "Oh my God, Dalia always draw pictures of you and Dalia! All the time she draw you!" Skip, skip, skip...my heart goes again!!

So...please tell me how can she NOT be my favorite????? DUH...she could never NOT be my favorite!!!

Moral of the Story...ME, NIKKI, I am BETTER & MORE IMPORTANT than Santa ;)

Much love & Happy Friday!!

Sorry for the weird symbols!!

For some reason on my post from last night part of my blog is in the webdings font and is all symbols. I don't know how to fix it. When I look at my blog from my laptop it's totally normal. But my sissy's computer, and my home computer have all the weird symbols. I've tried over and over again to edit my post and change the font to a "normal" font but it just stays in webdings :( So sorry to those who can't read it right :(

I'm a slacker!!

I'm such a slacker!! Not only did I slack and NOT do my homework till the last minute but I've been slacking on my blog! But...my excuse is I'm new to the blogging and I have no excuse for my homework...it's just plain lazyness ;)

So...last week was a busy week! Monday we went to get our Christmas tree :) Diego had to get all decked out just to go to the Boy's Scout Tree Lot down the street...take a look **reminder-it was night time! no need for the shades! LOL**

Here's Diego searching for a tree...Steve & Diego also made their very 1st fort!! Diego had a blast! But...now he wants to drag every blanket around and he say's he's making a fort!
And lastly was the cookie exchange that I did with my lovely in-laws! Which is where you have to make 6.5 dozen cookies!! And...there's a catch...they can't just be any cookie because you want to win the "best tasting cookie" & "best looking cookie"! I SO thought about a month ago that I was going to be the winner...but after my long week...I SO gave up and just made my good 'ol gingerbread cookies :) Did I mention that there is also a platter exchange and "most beautiful platter contest"?? Well...I did not win any of those three contests...but I did have fun and I got to bring home a bunch of cookies (that have some how been disappearing quite fast!) Here are a few pictures from the cookie exchange...
The cookies!! So yummy!!

The beautiful platters!

The cookie bakers :)

My cousin-n-law's crazy co-worker...I found this on my camera when I got home...I did not take this pic...she's one crazy funny lady! :)

And that's it for my week...oh...and yes, I did do my homework!! Only one week left of my December class and then I have 2 weeks off!!! From work and school!!! I'm super exited!!

Happy Monday everyone :)

Hello Blog World!

Hello fellow bloggers... So...I've seen a few of my friends blogs and loved them...so I decided to try it out!! I'm not sure how good I'm going to be because I'm a pretty busy person. I work full time, take care of my precious Diego and hubby, go to National University, and try to just relax and breathe and nap at times. I'm hoping I can stay in touch with friends and family members who don't live near...or that do live near but are just as busy and have a hard time finding free time. So, welcome to my little family and busy hectic life :)

Much love,
Nikki
